About Toby Peecock Piano Tuning

I trained at Newark College from 1975 to 1978 and gained a City and Guilds in Stringed Keyboard instrument manufacture. In the summer of 1976 I worked at Dace’s piano workshop in Chelmsford

After leaving College I went to John Broadwood and Sons of London. To begin with I tuned new pianos and re-built early instruments at their Factory in East Acton, but soon became an Outside Tuner. Visits included the National Theatre, Buckingham Palace, and The Broadwood Show Room near Oxford Circus.

I started my own piano tuning, repair and reconditioning business in 1983 and it has thrived. Over the years I have made many contacts in the performing and teaching worlds, as well as in the piano manufacture, supply and service industry.

I have attended a number of seminars and workshops at Steinway Hall, run jointly by the PTA and Steinway and Sons. These include Concert Preparation, One Day Servicing and On The Road Repairs. They are a great help in reaffirming and honing existing skills, and incorporating new ideas and practices.
